Max Peterson Has Contract Purchased by White Sox

Marion, IL - Southern Illinois Miners relief pitcher Max Peterson had his contract purchased by the Chicago White Sox today. Peterson, who has been the Miners closer this season, will be reporting to the White Sox Single-A team in Kannapolis, North Carolina.

Peterson, who signed with the Miners on April 16th of this year, appeared in 17 games for the Miners. He proved to be one of the Frontier League's best closers by leading the league in saves with 12. He pitched 16.1 innings this season, giving up 12 hits over that span and allowed two runs. He struck out 25 batters and only walked one batter all season. He leaves with a 0-1 record with a 1.10 ERA.

He is one of 19 Miners players to move on to affiliated minor league baseball. He's the second player in the last 10 days.
