Rippers End Slide in Slugfest

LONDON, ONTARIO - The London Rippers put up season highs in runs and doubles and a league high in hits as they snapped a four game losing streak, knocking down Windy City 13-11.

The two teams combined for 24 runs on 35 hits, twenty of those by Rippers batters.

Joash Brodin had four hits and Matt Wright had three of the team's 6 doubles, including one with the bases loaded, and tacked on four RBIs.

The Rippers put up their first four run inning since June 10th, taking a 4-1 lead in the first inning, capped off by a 2-RBI single by Stephen Cardullo.

Two London errors in the 3rd allowed Windy City to score two runs and tighten the game to 4-3, but, David Christensen hit a solo blast in the bottom of the 3rd, his 5th homer of the season, putting London up 5-3.

The homer was the first of eight straight hits for London, who put six runs on the board in the 3rd and ended the inning with a 10-3 advantage.

The Rippers took that lead into the 5th inning when Windy City put up six of their own on six hits and a walk, tightening the game to 10-9.

Three more in the 6th lifted London up 13-9, only to see the ThunderBolts put two of their own on the score sheet in the 7th .

Chris Kaminski (1-0) earned the win, going 2.1 innings. Matt Sommo got his first save.

London and Windy City play the rubber game of the series tomorrow at 7pm. London starts Matt Schimpf (2-2 2.93) against Dustin Williams (5-2 3.96).
