Corpus Christi IceRays News Release
The new year is almost here, and your Corpus Christi Rayz hope to share in all the fun with you this New Year's Eve at the American Bank Center at 7:00pm when they host the Austin Ice Bats. Your first-place Rayz return home on Friday for their final game of 2004 and are inviting you to the game and the FREE post-game Street Fiesta immediately following the contest.
Join the Rayz as they launch a new tradition in 2005 with the Corpus Christi Rayz Street Fiesta at the American Bank Center. The inaugural New Year's Eve celebration will begin when the Rayz take the ice against Southeast Division rivals Austin at 7:00pm. Immediately following the game with the Ice Bats, the American Bank Center crowd will be invited to a private block party in front of the arena on Shoreline Blvd. Every fan in attendance at the Rayz game will receive access to the block party featuring live music, food, drinks, interactive children's games and a spectacular fireworks show over Corpus Christi Bay at midnight. Entrance to the block party will be RESTRICTED to those with a ticket to the game. Following the fireworks fans are encouraged to join the Rayz at the Omni Corpus Christi Hotels as the party rolls on into the evening. Tickets to the game--including access to the block party--start at just $10 and are available at the American Bank Center Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations.
The Rayz vs. Ice Bats game is a key divisional match-up as these two teams are battling for playoff position in the Southern Conference. The Rayz currently have a three point lead over the Bats. The last time these two teams met was in Austin on December 10th when Ice Bats forward, Dallas Anderson cross checked and injured the Rayz captain and reigning CHL defenseman of the year Bernie John. John is still out of the lineup, so the Rayz have the Ice Bats in their crosshairs and are looking for revenge in this New Year's Eve rematch against Anderson and the Ice Bats. The fireworks on New Year's Eve could start early in the American Bank Center.
The Corpus Christi Rayz are also pleased to remind fans of their partnership with Driscoll Children's Hospital to present "New Year's Chances for Children" - a benefit on New Year's Eve. As part of the benefit the Rayz will donate a portion of the proceeds from select ticket sales to benefit Driscoll Children's Hospital. Tickets benefiting the hospital are available for purchase through the Rayz office, at the Driscoll Children's Hospital Gift Shop or by calling 361-814-PUCK (7825).
Driscoll Children's Hospital is regarded as the offering the finest pediatric care in South Texas. The Hospital is located at 3533 S. Alameda St. in Corpus Christi. Tickets that benefit Driscoll Children's Hospital are available for as little as $10. For more information on how to ring in the New Year while benefiting a great cause, please contact Josh Bogorad with the Rayz at (361)814-7825 or Driscoll Children's Hospital Director of Public Relations, Regina Posada at (361)694-5662.
Have a very Happy and Safe New Year from your Corpus Christi Rayz.
