Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, Texas â The Central Hockey League announced today that Laredo Bucks forward Adam Paiement and goaltender Jeremy Symington have been chosen for the Southern Conference roster for the 2005 Dodge CHL All-Star Game on January 12th at the Laredo Entertainment Center. For 2005 Dodge CHL All-Star Game tickets call (956)-718-BUCKS (2825) or log onto www.laredobucks.com and buy tickets online.
All non starters were selected by the respective All-Star coaches in conjunction with the CHL's hockey operations department. Each roster contains nine forwards, six defensemen and three goaltenders from each conference to participate. Each CHL club has a minimum of one representative.
Paiement, a 22-year old native of Mississauga, Ontario, is having a terrific season rookie season with the Bucks. He is tied for third among all rookies with 26 points, is fourth with 14 assists and fifth with 12 goals. In addition Paiement leads all rookies with seven power play goals. Earlier this month he recorded his first career hat trick in a game against Rio Grande Valley, which came during a career high nine game point streak.
"Adam came in determined to have an excellent season," Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski said. "He has done that so far. He has played physical, tough and scored goals for us in big situations and that has caught the eye of people around the CHL."
Paiement is classified as a rookie because he only played in four regular season games last year. In the playoffs last season he had five goals as the Bucks captured the President's Cup.
Symington, a 26-year old native of Camlachie, Ontario, has put up sparkling numbers in net for the Bucks. He is 10-4-0 with the fifth best goals allowed in the CHL at 2.34 and a save percentage of .920. He was in net for all eight games of the Bucks CHL season high tying eight game winning streak. During the streak he stopped 227 of 238 shots for a save percentage of .954.
"Jeremy has played phenomenal this year for us," Ruskowski said. "He was a major part of our eight game winning streak. We are happy and proud that he has been selected to the All-Star game."
This is the first professional All-Star game selection for Symington.
"Obviously it is a great honor," said Symington. "There are a lot of very deserving goalies in the CHL and I am honored to be chosen. Hopefully I can represent Laredo the way the city and organization deserve to be represented."
Paiement and Symington will join Bucks teammate Brent Cullaton who was selected last week to start for the Southern Conference.
In the Southern Conference, forwards Greg Bullock (Corpus Christi), Anders Strome (Lubbock), Sebastien Thinel (Odessa) and Austin teammates Benoit Genesse and John McNabb have been added, as were defensemen Pascal Bedard (Odessa), Tyler Butler (Amarillo), Matt Frick (San Angelo) and Jason Tessier (Rio Grande Valley). Goaltenders Lance Leslie from Lubbock will also participate. Leslie spent the 2002-03 season with the Bucks.
Forwards Cullaton , Jason Baird (Corpus Christi), and Derek Hahn (Amarillo) were voted to start for the Southern Conference, as were defensemen Derick Martin (Lubbock) and Bernie John (Corpus Christi) and San Angelo goaltender Scott Reid.
New Mexico's Miguel Beaudry and Bossier-Shreveport's Ken Carroll were selected as additional Northern Conference goaltenders, with Jason Basile (Bossier-Shreveport), Mario Joly (Tulsa), Daniel Tetrault (New Mexico) and Hardy Sauter (Oklahoma City), who makes his record eighth CHL All-Star Game appearance, named as defensemen. Forwards Michel Beausoleil (Oklahoma City), Jason Duda (Wichita), Mike Lukajic (Topeka), Olivier Maltais (Tulsa), Kevin Marsh (Colorado) and Martin Paquet (Fort Worth) were added to the Northern Conference roster, joining starters Greg Pankewicz (Colorado), Don Parsons (Memphis) and Chad Woollard (Fort Worth). Also previously selected to start for the Northern Conference were Colorado goaltender Tyler Weiman and defensemen Paul Esdale (Wichita) and Derek Landmesser (Memphis).
"We extend our sincere congratulations to each of the participants selected for the 2005 Dodge CHL All Star Game," said CHL President Brad Treliving. "We look forward to a very competitive contest which will showcase the talents of each of the All-Stars."
Each member of the All-Star teams will also take part in the CHL Skills Competition on Tuesday, January 11th, featuring six different events, including the Fastest Skater, Hardest Shot, Accuracy Shootout, Rapid Fire, Pass & Score and the Breakaway Relay contests.
