Austin Ice Bats News Release

The Austin Ice Bats of the Central Hockey League will send two players to the 2005 Dodge CHL All-Star Game, scheduled for Wednesday, January 12th in Laredo. The league today announced the full rosters for the game, and forwards John McNabb and Benoit Genesse will represent the Ice Bats on the Southern Conference team.

Starting lineups for the game were announced last week after voting among league coaches, public relations personnel and media members. McNabb and Genesse were selected as reserves by Southern Conference All-Star Coach Chris Dashney of Lubbock, in consultation with league officials.

Both players will be making their first appearances in the CHL All-Star Game. McNabb, who ranks in the top five in conference scoring with 12 goals and 18 assists, was an All-Star in the East Coast Hockey League in 2000. Genesse, who has 11 goals and 12 assists this season, was the United Hockey League Rookie of the Year last year.

"It's a great honor to be named an All-Star, and we're happy for both John and Benny to get the chance to compete in the game," said Ice Bats Coach Greg Gatto. "Certainly Chris Richards and Matt Barnes are two players that could also have been selected, but you can only take so many, and Chris and Matt have both played a couple of times in the game. It'll be nice for McNabb and Genesse to get that All-Star experience."

Both McNabb and Genesse will take part in the CHL Skills Competition on Tuesday, January 11th, and then in the All-Star Game the following evening at the Laredo Entertainment Center.
