Rihards Bukarts scored in overtime to give the Portland Winterhawks (32-27-4-0) a 4-3 win over the Kootenay Ice (10-46-6-0) Saturday in Cranbrook, British Columbia, as Portland wrapped up their six-game road trip through the WHL's Central Division.

The Hawks opened the scoring 9:11 into the game when Alex Schoenborn fired a shot past Kootenay netminder Wyatt Hoflin to give Portland a 1-0 lead. Kootenay got on the board when Jesse Zaharichuk scored at the 13:51 mark of the first to even it at 1-1, and then, 51 seconds later, Zak Zborosky scored to give Kootenay a 2-1 advantage heading into the second.

Kootenay extended their lead to 3-1 when Noah Philp scored at the 1:11 mark of the second, but Portland cut the deficit to 3-2 at 5:39 when Alex Schoenborn deflected in a pass from Keegan Iverson. The Hawks then struck again at the 17:04 mark of the second when Blake Heinrich hammered a slapshot top shelf to tie it 3-3 going into the third.

The teams went scoreless in the third period to force overtime where Rihards Bukarts scored the winner.

The Hawks will now return to Portland, and will take the ice again Friday when they host the Tri-City Americans at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
