Rochester Red Wings News Release

The first place Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders topped the Rochester Red Wings 6-4 Tuesday night at Frontier Field. Reynaldo Rodriguez had two hits and two RBI for the Wings.

The series continues Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m., another $1 Wednesday with $1 Zweigle's hot dogs, peanuts, chips, and Cracker Jack. Complete promotion details below...

The Wings had their most consistent starter on the mound Tuesday, with left-hander Pat Dean bringing a 2.69 ERA into the game. The Yankees had top pitching prospect Luis Severino on the hill, making his fourth start since a promotion from Double-A.

After two, quick innings, the RailRiders were able to tack on a run in the top of the third after Dean gave up a double and a single to two consecutive batters.

With two runners on in the bottom of the third, Eric Fryer knocked a base hit, extending his hit streak to eight games and loading the bases. Danny Ortiz knocked the 3-2 pitch to the warning track in left field left fielder Ramon Flores was there, ending the inning and leaving the score 1-0 RailRiders.

Scranton extended their lead to 3-0 in the fourth inning, as Dean gave up a base hit to Flores, a double to Rob Segedin and a base hit to Gregorio Petit. Severino and the defense retired the Wings in order in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Mark Hamburger relieved Dean (5-5) after he gave up four consecutive base hits in the sixth inning, allowing Scranton to score two more runs. Hamburger took the mound with no outs and runners on the corners. On three pitches, Hamburger got the Wings out of the inning without a RailRider crossing the plate. The RailRiders led 5-0 going into the bottom of the sixth.

Dean's line: five innings pitched, nine hits, five runs, all earned, one walk, and three strikeouts. He threw 87 pitches, 61 for strikes.

Jaron Long relieved Severino (2-0) in the bottom of the sixth, but not before James Beresford and Fryer reached base on a hit and a walk, respectively. A two-out base hit to left-center field by Rodriguez scored both Beresford and Fryer, making the score 5-2 Scranton.

Severino's line: five innings pitched, four hits, two runs, both earned, three walks, three strikeouts. Severino threw 103 pitches, with 59 strikes.

Ryan O'Rourke started the eighth inning on the mound for Rochester, after Hamburger tossed two perfect innings. Flores connected for a one-out homer off O'Rourke, extending the Scranton lead to 6-2. That homer prompted another pitching move, with Cole Johnson coming in to make his Triple-A debut. Johnson allowed just a walk in his 1 2/3 innings pitched, striking out one.

Oswaldo Arcia homered off Branden Pinder in the bottom of the ninth inning, the first homer for Arcia here this season. Pinder was ejected by home plate umpire Jansen Visconti after Pinder threw a pitch behind Rodriguez with a 2-0 count. Diego Moreno relieved Pinder, walked Rodriguez, then gave up an opposite field double to Ryan Wheeler. Rodriguez scored all the way from first base to pull the Wings to within two runs at 6-4.
