SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - The Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, pitched well but were shut out by the San Antonio Missions 4-0 Thursday night at Wolff Stadium.

Rangers pitcher A.J. Griffin (0-1) made the start for the Roughriders (33-24), beginning a Major League rehabilitation assignment. He allowed just one run on four hits over 2 1/3 innings of work, striking out three along the way.

The Missions (19-39) scored a run against Griffin in the second and added another against reliever Juan Grullon in the fourth on a solo home run by Taylor Lindsey.

Frisco hitters only managed five hits against San Antonio pitching, led by seven shutout innings from starter Michael Kelly (2-1). Kelly allowed just four baserunners Wednesday, three of which came from big league rehabber Shin-Soo Choo, who went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk Thursday. Choo was stranded at third base three times, and the Riders finished the game 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

Meanwhile, RoughRiders pitching kept the Missions rather quiet most of the night as well. Despite allowing two more runs in the seventh, Riders pitching staff bounced back well after surrendering a season-high 11 runs Wednesday night. Griffin, Grullon, Joe Filomeno, and John Fasola combined to strike out 13 hitters in eight innings pitched, while walking just one. It marked the third time in four games that Riders pitching has struck out 12 or more hitters.

Corpus Christi beat Midland again, putting the Riders 3.5 games back in the South Division standings.

Frisco rounds out its four-game series in San Antonio Friday at 7:05 p.m. Left-hander Yohander Mendez (2-0, 3.60 ERA) will work against Missions righty Dinelson Lamet (0-0, -.-- ERA). Fans can listen for free on the Frisco RoughRiders Radio Network, the TuneIn Radio App, and the MiLB First Pitch App.

The Riders return to Dr Pepper Ballpark for a nine-game homestand beginning Saturday, June 11, which is Vulcan Salute to Star Trek Night. The highly anticipated Choctaw Lazy River is also scheduled to be open during the homestand. Tickets for those games and all other games this season are available now online at RidersBaseball.com, via email at info@ridersbaseball.com, over the phone at (972) 731-9200, or in-person at the RoughRiders box office.
