Frisco RoughRiders News Release

MIDLAND, TEXAS-Nick Tepesch (1-0) gave the RoughRiders all they could ask for, as Frisco opened the second half with a 6-3 win against Midland at Citibank Ballpark. Making his second Double-A start, Tepesch struck out eight RockHounds over 7.2 innings.

It wouldn't take long for the "˜Riders offense to get started against Fabio Castro (0-1). Engel Beltre, Leury Garcia, and Jurickson Profar all singled to open the game, with Profar's base hit resulting in the team's first run. Later in the inning, Buchholz added an RBI single of his own.

After Midland scored a run in the home half of the inning, Frisco's offense picked up right where it left off in the second. Like the initial frame, the first three batters reached on singles, as Ryan Strausborger's plated the "˜Riders third run. A wild pitch by Castro coupled with a passed ball made it 5-0, while a sacrifice fly by Jurickson Profar coaxed Leury Garcia across.

In the fourth the RockHounds made it a four run game on an RBI single by Leonardo Gil, but Nick Tepesch neutralized his opponent the rest of the way. He'd retire 11 of the final 14 he faced before exiting with two outs in the eighth.

On to close, Tyler Tufts allowed a solo home run to Jeremy Barfield in the ninth, but got a strikeout, pop out, and groundout to end the game.

Nick Tepesch earned his first Double-A win, tossing 7.2 innings of two run ball. He scattered six hits, walked three, and struck out eight. Fabio Castro drew the loss, surrendering six runs (all earned) on eight hits over three frames. Tyler Tufts picked up the four out save, giving up one run.

Frisco wraps up its four game series with Midland on Thursday. Southpaw Chad Bell (2-1, 2.22) gets the start for the RoughRiders, he will be opposed by Carlos Hernandez (0-3, 10.27) who makes his first start of the season for the RockHounds. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00, and can be heard on KKGM 1630 AM or on ridersbaseball.com. Pre-game coverage starts at 6:30.

The RoughRiders return to Dr Pepper Ballpark on June 22, when the Corpus Christi Hooks make a four game trip to the metroplex. To purchase tickets fans can visit the box office, or buy online at ridersbaseball.com.
