Frisco RoughRiders News Release

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (July 22, 2015) - The Frisco RoughRiders trailed 5-0 early, but scored the next six runs to defeat the San Antonio Missions 6-5 on Wednesday night at Wolff Stadium. Luis Marte's run-scoring single was the difference maker as Frisco took three out of four in San Antonio.

Tied 5-5 in the seventh inning, Nomar Mazara led off with a double and was later knocked in on Marte's third single of the night to take the lead.

Frisco scored three runs in the fifth to cut into San Antonio's lead. Nick Williams laced an RBI-double to score Marte and Ryan Cordell followed with an infield single to score Patrick Cantwell. Mazara hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Williams, to make it a 5-3 Missions lead.

The Riders tied the contest up with two runs in the sixth. Drew Robinson worked one of his three walks on the night and crossed the plate on a Luis Mendez RBI-single. Williams picked up the tying-RBI with a single that scored Marte and made it a 5-5 ballgame.

The Missions got to starter Jake Thompson early. San Antonio knocked three base hits and tallied two scores in the first frame. In the second inning, four consecutive two-out base hits scored three runs to give the Missions a 5-0 advantage. Thompson went five innings in his return from the Pan American Games. He allowed five runs on eight hits, but picked up a no-decision.

Edwar Cabrera (3-1) notched his third win for Frisco over 2 1/3 scoreless innings. Brandon Alger (3-3) retired only one batter as he allowed the go-ahead run and dropped the decision for San Antonio.

David Martinez retired the final Mission to pick up his third save in as many days. Martinez adds to his Texas League saves lead with his 14th of the season in the 6-5 victory.

Frisco returns to Dr Pepper Ballpark Thursday for a seven game home stand against Corpus Christi and Midland. Frank Lopez toes the rubber for Frisco. He opposes Adrian Houser, who gets the start in the 7:05 p.m. contest for Corpus Christi. Fans can celebrate Daddy Daughter Date Night on July 25. Dads and daughters will be treated to a meet and greet with Peyton Meyer from Disney Channel's Girl Meets World and can stick around post-game for a Daddy-Daughter Dance in the State Fairway.
