Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
WILMINGTON, DE - Caleb Ricketts hit a two-run home run with two outs in the ninth inning to cap a four-run frame for Jersey Shore, who rallied to beat Wilmington 10-9 on Wednesday night at Frawley Stadium to take their third straight game.
Jersey Shore's ninth inning started with a walk to Cade Moore. After Justin Crawford doubled, Moore scored on a balk. Kendall Simmons then singled in Crawford with two outs to cut the lead to one. Ricketts then stepped up and homered down the left field line to give the BlueClaws the lead.
The BlueClaws have now won 23 of their last 29 games and maintain their one game lead over Brooklyn in the SAL Northern Division.
This comeback was the 15th last at bat win for the BlueClaws and third when they trailed entering the ninth inning.
The BlueClaws got on the board in the second inning on an RBI single by Leandro Pineda. They added four more runs in the third inning. An RBI groundout from Kendall Simmons scored one. Caleb Ricketts then singled in one. Pineda followed and singled in two more to give the BlueClaws a 5-0 lead.
Wilmington stormed back. They got three in the fifth inning off Jonh Henriquez - an RBI double by Kevin Made, a wild pitch, and an RBI single from Viandel Pena.
Kendall Simmons' SAC fly for the BlueClaws put them up 6-3 before Wilmington rallied in the seventh.
A SAC fly from Jared McKenzie cut the lead to 6-4. Yohandy Morales then tripled in two to tie the game at six. After a walk, Will Frizzell hit a three run home run, his ninth of the year, to give Wilmington a 9-6 lead. All six runs were charged to BlueClaws reliever Jason Ruffcorn.
Pineda, Ricketts, Crawford, and Gabriel Rincones Jr. each had two hits for Jersey Shore. Pineda and Ricketts had three RBIs and Simmons drove two runs for the BlueClaws.
The teams continue their series on Thursday night at 6:35 pm. RHP Gunner Mayer starts for the BlueClaws.
