Richmond Helps Rippers Snap Losing Streak

EVANSVILLE, INDIANA - Jamie Richmond (3-1) pitched eight innings of one-run ball as London (11-14) snapped their four game losing streak, slowing Evansville (8-17) 3-1.

Richmond was in trouble early, but got a strike out with the bases loaded in the 1st and struck out two more with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the second inning.

The Rippers put the first run of the game on the board in the 7th , Stephen Cardullo scored on Aaron Glaum's 2-out single.

Zach Larson gave London a 2-0 lead in the 8th on a double down the left field line, scoring David Christensen. Justino Cuevas kept the offense going with a double off Evansville reliever, Adam Champion, scoring Larson and increasing the Rippers lead to 3-0.

Richmond, who struck out eight in the game, has only allowed four runs in his last 21.2 innings, bringing his ERA to 3.02. "I struggled a bit with my location in the first two innings." Richmond says, "But I was able to settle down and make better pitches and the defense did the work behind me." David Francis earned his 3rd save in relief.

London and Evansville continue their series at historic Bosse Field tomorrow night at 6:35pm Central. Eric Katzman (0-2 4.12) will start for the Rippers, against Dan Blewett (2-1 0.82).
