
Richardson's HR helps Canries beat X's 8-5

SIOUX FALLS, SD -- Grant Richardson hit a 3 run HR to key a 5 run 6th inning as the Canaries took 3 in a row from Sioux City Snday afternoon at the Birdcage.
Richardson had 4 RBI on the afternoon for the Birds while Patrick Reilly added a solo HR and 2 RBI.
Paul Fagan struggled for the Explorers giving up the HR to Richardson, going 5 plus innings, allowing 5 earned runs on 8 hits, 4 walks and 3 strikeouts.
The X's trailed 7-1 in the game but tried to rally scoring 3 runs in the 7th and 1 more in the 9th but came up short. Dustin Jones went 3-3 with a walk and 2 runs scored. Nick McCoola broke out of a mini-slump, going 2-5 with a double and 3 RBI. Chad Gabriel extended his hitting streak to 6 games. Jorge Rodriquez went 2-5. The X's tied a season high with 11 hits in the game.
Sioux City will have a day off on Monday and then begin a 3 game series with Lincoln on Tuesday night. The X's are expected to start their ace Alexander Francisco while the Saltdogs will counter with RHP Brian Campbell. Game time at Lewis & Clark Park is 7:05, tickets available by calling 277-WINS.
