
Richardson Promoted to Triple-A, Plummer Rejoins Club

Portland, Maine- The Boston Red Sox have promoted Sea Dogs' left-handed reliever Dustin Richardson to Triple-A Pawtucket. Right-handed pitcher Jarod Plummer rejoins the Sea Dogs from Single-A Lowell. Plummer will start for the Sea Dogs Friday night at 7:00 PM against the Harrisburg Senators and Hadlock Field.
Richardson, 25 years-old, has registered a 2-2 record with four saves and a 2.70 ERA (19 ER, 63.1 IP) in 38 appearances for the Sea Dogs this season. The lefty is second in strikeouts (80) among Eastern League relievers. Richardson was named to the 2009 Eastern League All-Star team; he tossed one scoreless inning with a strikeout in the mid-summer classic. Last season, Richardson posted a 7-11 record with 118 strikeouts in 111.2 innings as a starter between Single-A Lowell and Double-A Portland. The Newton, Kansas native was selected by the Red Sox in the 4th round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.
Plummer has notched an 8-7 record with a 3.95 ERA (48 ER/ 109.1 IP) in 22 starts for the Sea Dogs this season. The 25 year-old was signed by the Red Sox as a minor league free agent on November 25, 2008.
The Portland Sea Dogs begin a four game series with the Harrisburg Senators (Nationals) Friday night at 7:00 PM at Hadlock Field. The Sea Dogs are currently battling the New Britain Rock Cats and Trenton Thunder for the final playoff spot in the Eastern League Northern Division. Portland sits 2.5 games behind New Britain for the final playoff spot with 20 regular season games remaining. Tickets for most 2009 Portland Sea Dogs' home games are available.
