Altoona Curve News Release

BOWIE, MD - Curve pitching held the Bowie Baysox (AA-Baltimore Orioles) to just four hits as Altoona took the opening game of a four game series 4-1 Friday night at Prince George's Stadium.

In an MLB rehab start lefty Donnie Veal tossed 2.0 innings of no-hit baseball allowing just one walk while striking out one. Curve right hander Yoslan Herrera (10-1) picked up his 10th win of the season after throwing 5.0 innings in relief of Veal. Herrera allowed just one run on two hits while striking out five Baysox batters. Herrera becomes the second Curve pitcher in as many games to reach the 10 win mark, Daniel Moskos recorded his 10th win Thursday to be the first Altoona pitcher to reach the mark since 2007. Ramon Aguero would come on to close the deal tossing the final 2.0 innings allowing two hits and striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth to give him four strike outs total in his second Double-A save.

After Bowie (63-60) took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning, the Curve responded with four unanswered runs. The first run was scored by Jonel Pacheco on a sacrifice fly by Miles Durham. The Curve would break the game open with three runs in the sixth inning with Ray Chang leading the charge hitting a two RBI double and the scoring the third run on a wild pitch. Chang would finish 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs as the only Curve player with multiple hits.

With the win the Curve have now saved fans $3 in the second edition of Road to Savings. For each win the Curve accumulate on their current seven-game road trip, fans will save $1 (up to a max of five wins) on Terrace and Grandstand Level seats for the Wednesday, August 26 game at 6:35 p.m. game against the Trenton Thunder (AA - New York Yankees) at Blair County Ballpark. With the savings now at $3, Grandstand level seats are $3 while Terrace level seats are $5.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with radio coverage beginning at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Altoona Curve Radio Network.
