New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - A two hour rain delay stalled the Rock Cats' offense, but Reading starter Michael Cisco couldn't do the same as the 'Cats jumped out of the gates with three runs in the first and never looked back in a 6-3 win over the Phillies.

Brandon Roberts (3-for-4) led off the bottom of the first with a base hit to right field and stole second before scoring on Luke Hughes' double to left. Rene Tosoni followed with a single to put runners on the corners. Erik Lis then delivered a sacrifice fly to center that scored Hughes for a 2-0 advantage. Tosoni stole second base and moved to third on a groundout by Wilson Ramos for the second out of the inning. Brian Dinkelman added an RBI single.

Reading got on the board in the second with a solo home run by Kevin Nelson. The Rock Cats answered back in the bottom of the inning when Hughes slugged a solo shot of his own to center for a 4-1 lead.

Matthew Fox (9-8) limited the R-Phils to two runs on four hits through 5 1/3 innings. He struck out seven. Alex Burnett notched his fifth save of the season with 1 1/3 scoreless innings - striking out three - in relief.

Cisco (0-3) allowed six runs on six hits and three walks in five innings of work. Dominic Brown had two hits and two RBI for Reading, including an RBI single in the eighth that cut the lead in half.

The Rock Cats (63-61) have won three in a row and maintain a one game lead over Trenton for the final playoff spot in the Northern Division.
