Richards Runs Over The Bulls

Kitchener, ON: The Rangers, led by captain Michael Richards, earned a decisive 5-1 victory tonight over the visiting Belleville Bulls in front of 5,895 at The Aud.

Richards accounted for all of the offense in the first period scoring both goals. His first of the night, and 22nd of the season, came short-handed on a giveaway in front of the Bulls net at 3:28. He added his 23rd of the season just over two minutes later at 5:41.

In the second period, Nathan O'Nabigon continued his hot streak with his 20th goal of the season at 4:08 to put the Rangers up 3-0. Michael Richards added his 3rd of the game at 11:18 to make it a 4-0 game. David Clarkson made it a 5-0 game with his 19th at 14:28 after redirecting the puck off of Bulls goalie Eric Tobia.

The Bulls finally solved Brad Topping when Cody Thornton scored his 14th of the season at 15:47.

In the third the teams played a scoreless period with the Rangers outshooting the Bulls 15-10 and 56-21 overall.

The Rangers next home game is Sunday, February 8th vs the Owen Sound Attack. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

Game Notes: The start time for the game on Friday, February 13th vs the Oshawa Generals has been changed to 7:00 p.m. to accommodate the live broadcast on Sportsnet...Michael Richards was named the 1st star after scoring 3 goals...Andre Benoit was named the 2nd star of the game...Topping stopped 20 shots for his 10th win of the season...the Rangers are now 6-4-0 in their past 10 games...the 56 shots tonight were the 3rd most on the season in a single game...Richards game winning goal was his 3rd of the season...the Rangers have now won 2 straight...the Rangers were 1/3 on the power play...the Bulls were 0/5 with the man advantage...the Bulls are now winless in their past 6 games (0-5-1).
