
OHL Announces January Performers of the Month

Toronto - The Ontario Hockey League today announced the Performers of the Month for January.
OHL Player of the Month - Corey Locke, Ottawa 67's
Locke scored a league-high 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points in 11 games. The 19-year-old Newmarket native recorded points in every game he played last month, including four point efforts against the Belleville Bulls on January 1 and Kingston Frontenacs on January 18. He maintained a 10-game goal scoring streak through January 24. Locke, the 2003 OHL and CHL Player of the Year, was a fourth round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in the NHL Entry Draft last June. He leads all OHL scorers with 39 goals and 52 assists for 91 points in 47 games this season.
OHL Rookie of the Month - Liam Reddox, Peterborough Petes
Reddox was named the league's top rookie for the second straight month after scoring a team-high nine goals and 19 points in 14 January games. He had a pair of two-goal games and recorded four points for the first time in his OHL career on January 9 against the Kitchener Rangers. The Whitby native, who turned 18 on January 27, leads all OHL freshmen with 55 points in 51 games this season. The Petes third round pick also represented the team in the OHL All-Star Classic in Peterborough last month.
OHL Defenceman of the Month - Bryan Rodney, Kingston Frontenacs
Rodney scored four goals and 15 assists and led all OHL blueliners with 19 points in 14 games last month. The 19-year-old London native started the month with a goal and three assists on New Year's Day against the Brampton Battalion. He recorded points in 11 games last month, including five multiple-point efforts. The former first round pick improved his season totals to seven goals and and 52 assists and is second among OHL defencemen with 59 points in 49 games.
OHL Goaltender of the Month - Ryan MacDonald, London Knights
MacDonald compiled a 7-0-1 record, along with a 1.77 goals against average and .942 save percentage in nine starts last month. He held the opposition to two or fewer goals on eight occasions, including four one-goal games. The 18-year-old native of Chesley, ON reduced his league-leading goals against average to 2.11. He also leads all OHL goaltenders with a .925 save percentage and has a 22-4-2 record in 31 games as a rookie with the Knights.
