Bridgewater, New Jersey - The New York Yankees have announced that RHP Deivi Garcia has been transferred to the Double-A Somerset Patriots from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He is expected to start for the team against the Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco Giants) in Thursday evening's double-header.

With over two years of major league service time, Garcia has amassed a 3-4 record and a 5.27 ERA with 40 strikeouts. He is currently ranked as the team's No. 28 prospect.

Signed to a minor league contract by the Yankees in July of 2015, Garcia emerged as the No. 3 prospect in New York's farm system and No. 87 prospect in baseball in 2020 according to MLB Pipeline.

The right-handed hurler from the Dominican Republic was then called up to the Yankees in 2020 and made his debut on August 30 against the New York Mets in which he struck out six batters and allowed an unearned run across six innings. Garcia completed his rookie season with a 3-2 record and 4.98 ERA as well as 33 strikeouts.

The 23-year-old was also named an MiLB Organizational All-Star in 2019.

Garcia joins a pitching staff that has posted Eastern League bests in ERA (3.47), WHIP (1.14) and batting average allowed (.214).
