Bullpen Slams the Door in 6-4 Win

Thursday night in Akron, the Harrisburg Senators used three home runs and terrific work from the bullpen to beat Akron 6-4. John Nogowski, Andrew Young and Darren Baker all homered while Steven Fuentes, Francys Peguero and Zach Brzykcy combined to throw four scoreless innings. The Sens are now 4-2 since the four-day break.

Ronald Herrera started and went five innings. He allowed three runs in the second but just two earned and then a solo home run leading off the third inning. After that home run, he settled down and retired nine of the final ten batters he faced. The Senators staff after the home run retired 21 of the final 24 batters of the game. Fuentes went two innings and allowed just one hit and no walks while earning his second win this season. Francys Peguero pitched the eighth inning allowing a walk but nothing else. Zach Brzykcy tossed a perfect ninth to record his seventh save.

Nogowski's home run came with no outs in the first inning and scored Jack Dunn and Baker. Andrew Young hit a game tying solo home run in the fourth. The home run by Baker gave the Senators a 5-4 lead in the seventh inning. Dunn, Baker, Wilson Garcia, Israel Pineda, and Jackson Cluff all had two hits. Harrisburg had 12 hits in the game.

The Sens have hit seven home runs in the first three games of the series and nine in the six games since the four-day break. They committed an error for the third straight game.
