Curve Take Third Straight Loss at Bowie

BOWIE, Md. - Altoona dropped their third straight game to begin the series at Bowie, 13-4, on Thursday afternoon at Prince George's Stadium. With the defeat, Altoona's record on their road trip stands at 1-5 and they've been outscored in their series at Bowie 36-12.

Matt Fraizer picked up a first inning RBI single for the Curve to take an early 1-0 lead, but the Curve couldn't hold the lead against Drew Rom. Rom dealt five innings of four-run ball to pick up the win and recorded five of Bowie's ten strikeouts on the mound.

Liover Peguero swatted his seventh home run of the season in the fourth inning. His solo shot made it a 5-2 game at the time. Andres Alvarez added a two-run blast in the fifth inning to make it a 7-4 game, but Bowie came back with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 10-4 lead. The Baysox added three runs off the Curve bullpen in the eighth inning to give them the final score.

On the mound righty Luis Ortiz was charged with his seventh loss of the season, surrendering six runs in 3.1 innings pitched. Brad Case followed Ortiz and was touched for four runs across 1.2 innings. Tahnaj Thomas spun two scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts, extending his scoreless inning streak to 9.1 innings in the month of July across five outings.

Jared Triolo added three hits and a walk out of the top spot in Altoona's batting order to lead the Curve offense.
