Akron RubberDucks News Release
Summary
The long ball hurts Ducks pitching again as the Harrisburg Senators power past the Akron RubberDucks 6-4 on Thursday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
Harrisburg, possessing a one run lead in the eighth, looked to pad onto their lead against the RubberDucks. Defensive miscues in the field allowed a double to drop in the infield, which could've been the final out of the inning. Another infield single and a wild pitch allowed the Senators to score a run and increase their lead against the RubberDucks to 6-4.
Mound Presence
Jamie Arias got the start for Akron and struggled out of the gates surrending three straight hits including a three-run home run in the first. Arias settled in retiring 10 of the next 12 he faced. In total, Arias tossed three and two-thirds innings allowing four runs while striking out two. Brett Daniels followed with two and a third scoreless innings. Jerson Ramirez pitched an inning, giving up one run. Manuel Alvarez threw an inning giving up a run on two hits. Eli Lingos worked a scoreless inning.
Duck Tales
Chris Roller reached base in the second inning with a hit by pitch and advanced to second following a Julian Escobedo walk. Eric Rodriguez drove in Roller with a single, and Jose Tena reached on an error by the left fielder, scoring Escobedo, making the score 3-2 Harrisburg. Rodriguez scored on a Brayan Rocchio groundout, tying the game 3-3 in the bottom of the second. Jhonkensy Noel hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third, giving Akron the lead 4-3.
