RHP Dean Deetz assigned to Quad Cities to begin rehab assignment

The Quad Cities River Bandits, in conjunction with the Houston Astros, have announced the following changes to their roster on Tuesday. Pitcher Dean Deetz has been assigned to Quad Cities to begin a rehab assignment. Pitcher Tanner Duncan has been transferred from Buies Creek (Advanced-A) to Quad Cities. Pitcher Cristian Javier has been transferred from Quad Cities to Buies Creek (Advanced-A).

Deetz spent last season pitching in a combined 25 games between Double-A Corpus Christi and Triple-A Fresno. He was 7-6 with a 4.25 earned run average and struck out 97 in 84.2 innings. The 24-year old previously pitched for the River Bandits in 2015, when he allowed just three earned runs in 35.1 innings.

Duncan will return to the Quad Cities for his third stint with the River Bandits this season. He made five appearances with the Buies Creek Astros, during which he allowed six runs on eight hits in 8.1 innings. Duncan has allowed just two runs in 12.0 innings with the Bandits this year.

Javier was 2-2 with an earned run average of 1.82 for the River Bandits. His 80 strikeouts are currently the most among Midwest League pitchers. He limited opponents to a .165 batting average to go along with a 1.03 WHIP. Javier fanned at least five hitters in all 11 of his appearances this season. The 21-year old was named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 21-27.

Deetz will wear #23 and is expected to start tonight's game against Clinton. Duncan will continue to wear #39. The active roster remains at 25 players.
