Revs Stalled By Hale Storm

May 9, 2015 - Atlantic League (AtL)
York Revolution News Release

Southern Maryland starter Jake Hale kept the York Revolution off balance all night, as the Revs dropped a 3-1 decision to the Blue Crabs in front of 4,619 fans at Santander Stadium on Saturday evening. The Revs will look to halt their two-game skid when they host the Crabs in game three of the four-game series on Sunday at 5 p.m.

A night after racking up a season-high 13 hits, the York offense was shut out by Hale into the eighth inning. The shutout was broken up as Johan Limonta crushed a home run to right field leading off the bottom of the eighth, cutting the deficit to a run and ending Hale's night, but it was the only offense the Revs could manage.

Early on, both starters dominated as York lefty Logan Williamson and Hale each retired 10 of their first 11 batters faced.

Scoreless into the fifth inning, Southern Maryland broke through on a two-out RBI single by Antone DeJesus as his sharp grounder glanced off the glove of third baseman Bryan Pounds on a diving effort near the line. It plated Casey Frawley who had kept the inning alive with a ground rule double, as Southern Maryland took a 1-0 lead.

Zach Wilson led off the sixth with a home run to left-center, extending the Blue Crabs' advantage to 2-0.

Williamson continued his tough-luck start to the season, charged with the loss despite a solid effort. He allowed just two runs over 5.1 innings and is now 0-2 despite a 1.65 ERA, having allowed a total of just three earned runs in three starts. The Revs have combined to score just five runs on offense in those three starts.

Hale (2-1) carried a four-hit shutout until allowing Limonta's home run, and allowed just one run on five hits over seven-plus innings. He only struck out two but walked none and threw 61 of 88 pitches for strikes.

Southern Maryland added an insurance run in the ninth on a two-out RBI single to left-center by Renny Osuna, providing breathing room for Erik Hamren who notched his fourth save with a scoreless ninth.
