York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution dropped the finale of their series, 4-1 to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on Thursday evening at Santander Stadium. The Revs dropped the final two of the series after winning the opener, and will look to rebound as they travel to Lancaster for the first of a four-game War of the Roses set on Friday night.

Shawn Hill took the mound on a rainy Thursday evening in York, as the Revs took the field looking to take the rubber game of the series against the Blue Crabs. Hill breezed through the first inning, only to find trouble in the second, allowing two runs on a fielder's choice and an Anthony Vega RBI single respectively. Hill struggled with a saturated mound in the third inning, as the rain began to become steadier and steadier, but the umpires decided to continue play.

A Casey Frawley RBI single in the fourth increased the Southern Maryland lead to 3-0, which was all the damage Hill (1-7) would allow during the night. His final line: six innings, nine hits and three earned runs, a respectable line considering the challenging elements.

The Revs put up a run in the seventh inning against Blue Crabs starter Jon Leicester (3-0) on a Salvador Paniagua bloop double, scoring Yeicok Calderon and cutting the Southern Maryland lead to 3-1.

However, Southern Maryland recovered that run on a Jamar Walton sac fly before rain brought the game to a grinding halt in the eighth, forcing the grounds crew to tarp the field and resulting in a one hour and two minute rain delay.

Play picked back up in the bottom of the eighth just short of 10 p.m., with Justin Berg taking the mound for Southern Maryland. The Revs went down quietly though, keeping the score at 4-1 heading into the ninth.

Edward Paredes came on and pitched a scoreless ninth, keeping the Revs within striking distance.

The Revs were not able to get anything going though in the bottom half of the frame, ending the game quietly with three straight outs as Erik Hamren claimed his 12th save.

The Revs travel to Lancaster next to play a four game set against the Barnstormers. York lefty Logan Williamson (1-3, 2.30) gets the nod for the Revs in the opener while Lancaster lefty Dan Osterbrock (3-3, 3.10) takes the hill for the Barnstormers. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile apps beginning at 6:40 p.m. with Darrell Henry and Ray Jensen on the call.

Notes: Southern Maryland pitchers record 11 strikeouts, seven looking. Leicester recorded six of his eight strikeouts on called strikes. Nick Ferdinand ripped a double high off the Arch Nemesis in the sixth, giving him an extra-base hit in five consecutive games and nine total extra-base hits in 14 games with York. York starters have allowed three earned runs or fewer in 20 of the last 22 games, but the Revs fall to 7-11 when recording a quality start. York slips to 1-6 vs. Southern Maryland. The two teams will play six times in 10 games including a three-game series in Waldorf next week.
