York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution were denied a road sweep, as their four-game winning streak was snapped with a 2-1 loss to the Bridgeport Bluefish on Wednesday night at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, CT. The win is the 1,000th in franchise history for the Bluefish, becoming the first team in league history to reach the milestone. After Thursday's off day, the Revs return to action on Friday night in Lancaster to open a weekend series against the Barnstormers at 7 p.m. York falls 6.0 games behind the Barnstormers for first place in the Freedom Division with Wednesday's loss.

Elliott Ayala drove in both runs for the Bluefish with RBI singles in the second and sixth innings. Those were the only two blemishes on the line of Revs starter Chris Cody (4-7) who suffered the tough luck loss, allowing just six hits and one walk in six innings while striking out five.

York 's hot offense was held in check by lefty Mike Tarsi (1-0) who allowed just three hits in five scoreless innings in his first start of the season.

Reliever Chris Hayes kept the combined shutout rolling into the eighth before the Revs plated an unearned run on an RBI groundout by Ramon Castro, his league-leading 45th RBI of the season. That's all that York could manage, however, as Hayes totaled 3.1 innings in relief, and Rommie Lewis induced a game-ending double play grounder for his first save.

The Revs had leadoff doubles from Salvador Paniagua in the third and Travis Scott in the seventh but were unable to score in either inning. York also had runners at second and third with one out in the eighth after a Scott Grimes single and an error by right fielder Prentice Redman, but could only muster the one run on Castro's groundout.

Notes: Stephen Penney tossed two perfect innings in relief for York. Scott (2-for-4) extended his hitting streak to eight consecutive games. Brandon Haveman (0-for-4) lost a 10-game streak, held hitless for just the fifth time in his 35 games with York. The four-game winning streak was the Revs' third in the month of June. York's Matt Chico (0-1, 7.00) will face Lancaster's John Halama (5-4, 2.61) on Friday night in Lancaster at 7:00 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350 and Shoutcast.com (YorkRevs) beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
