Revs Community Fund Strives for New Level with Charitable Grants

July 1, 2015 - Atlantic League (AtL)
York Revolution News Release

(York, Pa.): In 2013, the York Revolution established a donor-advised fund at the York County Community Foundation. The goal was to create a vehicle that would allow the organization to give back to the community in addition to the non-profit group fundraising and charitable endeavors that take place on a nightly basis at Santander Stadium.

Going beyond game-worn player jersey auctions and other memorabilia, the York Revolution Community Fund is now taking steps to grow the Revs' charitable giving through more original merchandise and ideas, in order to award grants to local community non-profits that provide services directly to York County.

The initial step is the creation of the Revs Kitchen cookbook, featuring dinner, dessert and drink recipes from a host of York Revolution on-field dignitaries, past and present. (Sample photos attached.) The cookbook features contributions from Field Manager Mark Mason (stuffed pepper soup), former Atlantic League All-Stars Keoni DeRenne (Shoyu Ahi poke bowl), Chad Tracy (spaghetti & meatballs with Sicilian sauce) and Chris Cody (chocolate chip cookie dough brownie bombs) and even long-time broadcaster Darrell Henry (cilantro lime chicken).

The Revs Kitchen cookbook is available for purchase at Santander Stadium during any Revolution home game for $20, with all the of the proceeds benefiting the York Revolution Community Fund.

"This cookbook is one of the most unique player and team-branded items you're going to find in minor league sports," said Lori Brunson, York Revolution Vice President of Finance and organizer of the project. "What's great about it is, it pairs a fun team collectable with something our fans and other community-minded people can use on a regular basis."

Also currently up for auction is a "York Revolution Lifetime Pass." As the name suggests, the winner of this auction will have access to all Revolution home games for the rest of his or her natural life at no additional charge. The online auction closes Wednesday, July 15, and bids may only be submitted online by CLICKING HERE. (Opening bid was $1,000.00.) The winner of the Lifetime Pass will also be awarded this trophy to recognize their commitment to the York community:

Revolution fans should keep their eyes open in the second half of this season for more high-end memorabilia auctions, and game-used jersey and equipment items for sale and auction this fall once the season has concluded. The York Revolution Community Fund is committed to providing grants to local non-profits that strengthen our community, and the organization and its fans will form a great partnership through various sales and auctions to ensure that takes place.

The York Revolution Professional Baseball Club is a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, and Atlantic League Champions in 2010 and 2011. 2015 is the Revolution's ninth season of operation at Santander Stadium, the centerpiece of Downtown York, PA, located at 5 Brooks Robinson Way. The facility hosts all 70 home games in addition to myriad events through the entire calendar year.
