
Magic Number Dwindles to One as Patriots Top Riversharks 6-3

Camden, NJ - The Somerset Patriots (48-18) defeated the Camden Riversharks (26-40) 6-3 Wednesday evening at Campbell's Field. With the victory the magic number to clinch the First Half Liberty Division Title is now one game.
With their 48th win of the half, the Patriots set a franchise record for most wins in a half and have tied the Atlantic League record for most wins in a half joining the 2005 Atlantic City Surf and the 2013 Sugar Land Skeeters.
In the bottom of the second inning catcher Jose Gil sliced a RBI triple to give Camden a 1-0 advantage.
Camden scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to grab a 3-0 lead. Second baseman Paddy Matera recorded a RBI single while shortstop Zach MacPhee hit a RBI groundout.
Designated hitter Thomas Neal cranked a two run home run (4) to cut the deficit to 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning.
The Patriots evened the score at 3-3 in the top of the sixth inning as catcher James Skelton socked a RBI single.
Somerset scored twice in the top of the eighth inning as shortstop Robert Andino clubbed a RBI sacrifice fly and right fielder Michael Burgess crossed home via a wild pitch to make the score 5-3 in favor of the Patriots.
First baseman David Vidal pounded a RBI double to make the score 6-3 in the top of the ninth inning which would be the final score.
Anthony Collazo earned the win (2-0) in relief. T.J. Chism sustained the loss (1-2) in relief. Jon Hunton notched the save (17) pitching a perfect final frame.
