Camden Riversharks News Release

Camden, NJ - Four Riversharks players have been selected to represent the club in the 2015 All-Star Game to be held July 8th in Bridgeport Connecticut, home of the Blue Fish.

The four selected to make the trip are third baseman Joel Guzman, shortstop Brandon Chaves, pitcher Dan Blewett, and pitcher Rob Bryson.

"I'm very proud of the players representing our team at the All-Star Game," states Riversharks Manager Chris Widger. "They are all very well-deserving and are key contributors on and off of the field. They will showcase our team very well at the All-Star Game."

Guzman, 30, makes the All-Star team midway through his first year in the Atlantic League. With a .286 average, Guzman leads the team in RBI with 33, is tied for fourth in homeruns, and first in doubles. Guzman performed best in the month of June, as his average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage all rose throughout the month. The 6-7, 225 lb. corner infielder has some major league experience, playing one season each with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays.

Shortstop Brandon Chaves provides value to the team both on offense and defense. Besides his tremendous play at short, he has lead the team in batting average throughout the season and is sixth in the league in batting average. Chaves so far has hit .301 with 12 doubles and 17 RBI. He also leads the team with 30 runs scored. Chaves is one of the most experienced players on the Riversharks roster, playing 16 seasons of professional baseball.

In the bullpen, right-handed pitchers Blewett and Bryson have excelled throughout the entire season. Blewett leads the team in ERA with a 0.75 mark and has 30 strikeouts in just 24 innings of work. Blewett has been primarily a set-up man and has been near-perfect allowing only three runs all season. Blewett earned the All-Star nomination after just his second season in the Atlantic League.

Bryson also makes the All-Star Game as a newcomer to the Atlantic League. Pitching in the Cleveland Indians organization for most of his career, Bryson reached as high as AAA. In just over 26 innings this year, Bryson has a 2.73 ERA and 32 strikeouts, while surrendering just one homerun.
