York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution jumped to an early lead and scored five in the ninth to pull away late, winning 12-4 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard over the Bridgeport Bluefish on Thursday night. The Revs maintain their half game lead in the Freedom Division's second half standings and will close their nine-game road trip on Friday night before opening a nine-game homestand on Saturday in York.

York built a 6-0 lead over the first five and a half innings. Eric Eymann drove a ground-rule double to left-center and Liu Rodriguez bounced an RBI grounder to second to plate two runs in the second inning. Rodriguez then connected on a sac fly to center in the fourth, and Chris Nowak launched his second two-run homer to left in as many nights in the fifth. Scott Grimes' RBI groundout in the sixth made it 6-0 after the Revs chased Bluefish starter Esteban Yan, who was charged with all six in 5.1 innings.

Revs starter Corey Thurman (8-3) took a shutout into the sixth inning to earn the win, and allowed just two runs (one earned) in 5.1 innings of work. He surrendered only four hits, walked only one and struck out a season-high eight.

Thurman allowed a leadoff triple to Andres Perez in the fourth but struck out the next three batters consecutively stranding Perez at third to keep the Bluefish off the board at the time.

Thurman wasn't charged with a run until Wes Bankston chopped an RBI grounder to shortstop off Geoff Geary in the sixth. Two unearned runs came across when Luis Lopez reached on a two-out error allowing Perez to score, and Danny Putnam drove in a run with a bloop single to shallow left, but the Revs maintained a 6-3 lead.

York padded the lead with a run in the seventh when Chris Walker legged out an infield single, stole his second base of the night, moved to third on a wild pitch, and scored on Nowak's sac fly to center.

The Revs then blew it open with five runs in the ninth, sending ten batters to the plate in the big inning. James Shanks drove an RBI triple to right-center, Eymann slapped an RBI single down the left field line, Octavio Martinez drove in another run on a fielder's choice, and Walker pulled a two-run single into right field to make it 12-3.

Steve Moss' RBI groundout in the bottom of the ninth plated the final run of the night.

Eymann went 4-for-4, drove in two, scored two, and reached base all five times. It was his third four-hit game of the season, and first since June 26 in a home game against the Bluefish.

Nowak was 3-for-4 with a homer, three RBI, and three runs scored.
