Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Road Warriors 4-1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday night.
Dan DeGeorge drove an RBI single up the middle to bring home Joe Burke and give Somerset a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.
The Patriots added to their lead in the sixth after Norris Hopper scored on an RBI single by Matt Hagen to make the score 2-0.
Somerset brought home two more runs in the eighth on an RBI groundout by Elliott Ayala and an RBI double by Hagen for the 4-0 lead.
A solo homerun by Carlos Sosa (15) in the top of the ninth ended the shutout for the 4-1 final.
Patriots starter Derrick Gordon (7-1) got the win after pitching seven scoreless innings and striking out six. Kelvin Villa (3-6) suffered the loss, allowing two runs on three hits in five innings pitched.
