York Revolution News Release

Joe Gardner (1-1) threw seven innings of one-hit ball in just his second start of the season, as the Barmstormers defeated the York Revolution on Emergency Responders night Wednesday, taking the final game of the series by a score of 3-0 and splitting the four-game set 2-2. Andres Perez came up with the lone hit against Gardner, a single in the bottom of the fourth for the Revs.

Anthony Lerew (3-2) turned in another solid effort for the Revs, going six innings and striking out seven, but took the tough luck loss. Brian Cavazos-Galvez and Luke Hughes both had RBI base hits against the Revs right hander in the first and third innings, respectively.

Revs reliever Mike DeMark also gave up a Cavazos-Galvez RBI single in the eighth, increasing Lancaster's lead to 3-0, putting the game further out of reach for York.

The Revs attempted a rally in the ninth, with shortstop Wilson Valdez doubling off the Arch Nemesis in left to lead off the inning against Lancaster closer Scott Patterson. The scoring threat would end there though, as Shannon Wilkerson popped up to first, Andres Perez struck out swinging and Bryan Pounds grounded out sharply to second to strand Valdez at second to end the game.

The Revs wrapped up the eight game homestand 3-5, dropping their record to 18-27 on the year.

Up next for the Revolution is a five-game set in Sugar Land, including a doubleheader on Saturday to make up for a rainout on May 15th. Right-hander Matt Neil (1-2, 4.91) gets the nod for the Revs in Thursday's opener, while right-hander Sean Gallagher (0-4, 3.71) will take the hill for the Skeeters. First pitch is set for 8:05 p.m. ET, and Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile apps beginning at 7:45 p.m. ET with Darrell Henry on the call.

Notes: Lerew has gone at least six innings, allowing just two runs, and striking out at least seven in back-to-back starts despite not winning either outing. York falls to 7-4 against Lancaster with the loss. DeMark's outing was his second of the year and first since April 25; the run charged to the right-hander in the eighth was unearned. Patterson's save was his first of the year and 30th all-time with the Barnstormers. It marked the first time the Barnstormers have shut out the Revs since August 25, 2013 and first time at Santander Stadium since June 22, 2012.
