York Revolution News Release
(July 6, 2016, York, Pa.) - Five of York's finest will represent the Freedom Division First-Half Champion Revolution on July 13 when Lancaster hosts the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) All-Star Game.
Pitchers Mike DeMark and Ricardo Gomez, second baseman Andres Perez, designated hitter Joel Guzman, and outfielder Travis Witherspoon were selected by managers and league executives to play for the ALPB Freedom Division team under the management of New Britain's Stan Cliburn. They'll face a Liberty Division team of ALPB stars managed by Somerset's Brett Jodie.

DeMark has already notched 20 saves for the Revs this year and boasts 38 strikeouts in 27 innings pitched and a miniscule 0.66 ERA. His 20 saves lead the league and are a Revs' first half record, already the third-highest total in a season in club history. DeMark held opponents without an earned run in his first 19 save opportunities.
Among the top 10 pitchers in franchise history for relief wins and saves, Gomez has been outstanding in his setup role this season, striking out 30 in 24.1 innings while posting a 1.47 ERA. The righty enjoyed a 16-appearance scoreless streak from May 15 through June 23.
In the first half of the 2016 season, Perez recorded his 1,000th career hit, his 500th hit with York, and became the Revs all-time leader in home runs, crushing a grand slam for his 60th long ball in a Revs uniform in Sunday's victory over Lancaster. He's batting .297 with 39 RBI and 8 home runs on the year and will make his franchise record fourth ALPB All-Star Game appearance next week.
Guzman has powered his way to a .309 average and racked up a league-leading 50 RBI and 10 homers en route to the league's 19th annual midsummer classic. He ranks sixth in the league in batting, tied for fourth in home runs, third in hits (82), fourth in total bases (124), and fifth in slugging (.468).
Former Barnstormer Witherspoon will return to Clipper Magazine Stadium with a .337 average, 11 RBI, and 4 home runs in a Revs uniform. Acquired by York via trade on June 16, he has batted safely in 15 of his first 18 games with the Revs including nine multi-hit games, and has scored 14 runs while stealing 10 bases.
