Foxborough, Mass. - The New England Revolution selected four players today in the 2005 MLS Supplemental Draft which was held via teleconference call from MLS League office in New York.

In Round Two, with the 17th overall pick, the Revolution selected forward Jamie Holmes from Birmigham Southern College. The Jacksonville, Fla. native earned 2004 Big South men's soccer Player of the Year, after helping the Panthers win their first-ever Big South regular-season title. In his senior season, Holmes tallied 13 goals in 16 starts, while leading the Big South in shots (91), shots per game (5.86) and goals per game (0.81), second in points per game (1.88) and third in goals (13) and points (30). During his career, Holmes led Birmingham-Southern in scoring all four years.

With the 21st pick overall, also in Round Two, New England took Southern Methodist University forward Ryan Latham. In four years at SMU, the Rockwall, Texas native appeared in 70 games, scoring 22 goals and assisting eight goals. In the 2004 Missouri Valley Conference Championship game, Latham completed an SMU come-from-behind victory by scoring with 0:22 seconds remaining to give the Mustangs a 2-1 victory over Tulsa.

In Round Three, 33rd overall, New England chose University of Connecticut midfielder Easton Wilson. Wilson played collegiately at University of Hartford for two seasons, before transferring to UConn. Cumulatively, the chemistry major appeard in 71 collegiate games and registered 10 assists. The Hartford,Conn. native attended Weaver High School (Hartford, Conn.), where he was named to the All-Conference, All-State and All-New England Teams following his senior season.

With their final selection (Round Four, 45th overall) the Revs selected defender Jeff Larentowicz of Brown University. In 66 collegiate appearances, the defender scored seven goals and six assists, as well as earning two Ivy League Championships. The West Chester, Penn. native was twice named NSCAA All-America Second Team and All-Ivy First Team (2003,2004).

"These are four players who each have the potential to augment our already strong playing staff," said Revolution technical director Joe Cummings. "With the expanded rosters in MLS and the reserve-team schedule, this is a real opportunity for these players to prove they belong in a top-flight professional environment. We particularly like the fact that Easton and Jeff have local ties as the Revolution makes every effort to tap into the talent base here in New England."

The four-round Supplemental Draft comes three weeks after the 2005 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas in Baltimore. The MLS SuperDraft, which was traditionally a six-round draft, consisted of four rounds in 2005 with what were formerly the Fifth and Sixth Rounds of the SuperDraft becoming the First and Second Rounds of the Supplemental Draft. Similar to the SuperDraft, the Supplemental Draft order is initially determined by reverse order of finish in 2004 with the exception of Real Salt Lake and CD Chivas USA, the League's 2005 expansion teams that selected with the top two selections in each round.
