York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution came from behind on Monday night to beat the Somerset Patriots 8-4 at Sovereign Bank Stadium, and pulled within one game of Lancaster for first place in the Freedom Division's second half. The Revs have won back-to-back games, and will look to close their homestand with three straight wins on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.

Somerset took an early lead on Iggy Suarez' two-run double down the third base line in the second inning, but it was a rare opportunity cashed in on this night, as the Patriots stranded a season-high 15 base runners, which also tied the most left on by a Revs opponent in a nine-inning game all year.

York starter Celson Polanco escaped trouble in the third, when, with the bases loaded and one out, Liu Rodriguez started a spectacular double play off the bat of Elliott Ayala, cutting off a ball behind second, and feeding shortstop Chuck Jeroloman on a behind-the-back flip.

Joe Burke stroked an RBI single to right-center in the fourth, extending Somerset's lead to 3-0, and chasing Polanco after 3.2 innings.

The Revs scored eight of the game's final nine runs, however, including six unanswered in the fifth and sixth innings.

With two on and two outs in the fifth, Ramon Castro drilled a two-run single off the Arch Nemesis in left field to allow the Revs to break through, and get on the board. Jose Herrera then launched the next pitch over the Nemesis for a two-run homer, as the Revs stormed in front 4-3.

John Pachot led off the sixth inning with a towering homerun to left, and after Rodriguez singled, Jeroloman drove him in all the way from first base on a double to left.

Back-to-back two-out doubles from Ayala and Jason Belcher allowed Somerset to creep within 6-4 in the seventh, but Vince Perkins struck out Wayne Lydon with the bases loaded to end the threat.

The Revs recovered that run on a Pachot RBI double down the left field line in their half of the inning, and Victor Rodriguez then came in to score on a wild pitch, providing the final margin.

Notes: The Revs' bullpen allowed just one run in 5.1 innings, and has combined to allow only two runs in 15.2 innings the last three games. Jason Richardson (3-2) earned the win in relief against one of his former teams. The Revs rapped 16 hits, after collecting 17 the day before. James Shanks enjoyed his second consecutive three-hit game, and narrowly missed a homerun, drilling a triple off the wall in left-center, following Herrera's homerun in the fifth. The Revs have now won eight of their last ten head-to-head against Somerset. Patriots starter Josh Miller (8-8) suffered the loss, his second in his last three starts against the Revs, after winning his first five decisions lifetime against York. The Revs welcomed 2,975 fans on Monday night, and are now just 5,880 fans away from reaching the 1,000,000 mark in Sovereign Bank Stadium history. The homestand concludes on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. for York County Junior Girls Softball Night. Jarod Plummer (3-2) will face Jason Monti (2-6). Gates open at 6 p.m., and tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office. Playoff tickets for the Revs' Sprint to the Championship are also on-sale now!
