New England Revolution News Release
FRISCO, Texas - The New England Revolution Academy Under-19s advanced to the 2022 MLS NEXT Cup Semifinals on Wednesday afternoon after completing a comeback victory over Players Development Academy, 3-2, at the Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas.
The U-19s advance to take on FC Dallas on Friday at 10:00 a.m. ET in the MLS NEXT Cup Semifinals. The match will stream live on Twitch and YouTube. The Revolution have now sent youth teams to the MLS NEXT Cup Semifinals in each of the tournament's first two editions, after the Under-15s also advanced to the final four in 2021.
New England opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a left-footed rocket from Isaie Louis (2005 - Everett, Mass.) from the right side of the box. PDA added on two goals late in the first half to take a 2-1 lead into the halftime break. The Revolution U-19s showed their resiliency after the intermission, scoring twice in the final 35 minutes to complete the come-from-behind win. Malcolm Fry (2005 - Groton, Mass) entered the match to start the second half and catalyzed the attack, as he provided the assist on Triton Beauvois' (2003 - Malden, Mass.) goal in the 55th minute to things up at two goals apiece. Fry then delivered the winning touch as he notched the Revolution's third goal in the 65th minute, which proved to be the difference. Fry tallied the winner by beating his defender one-on-one before slotting a cool finish past the PDA goalkeeper with his left foot.
The Under-15s have also been competing at the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs in Frisco this week. The U-15s fell to Inter Miami CF II on Saturday and completed their season with a 3-0 win over San Jose Earthquakes and a 2-1 victory of the Colorado Rapids in Showcase play on Tuesday.
