Sacramento Republic FC News Release
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento Republic FC invites fans to come watch the 2018 FIFA World Cup at the Republic FC Team Store, beginning with the tournament's opening game at 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 14. The club will show all weekday matches that begin at 7 a.m. or later and provide coffee, pastries and snacks for those in attendance.
"The World Cup is a great opportunity to bring people together around a common love for the game," said Republic FC COO Ben Gumpert. "It is a fun way to invite our fans to stop by our team store on their way to work, grab coffee on us and enjoy watching the games with other passionate fans. Knowing the passion of our fanbase, some might even call in sick to work for the morning - and we're ok with that."
Fans planning to attend should reserve their spot by signing up at SacRepublicFC.com/worldcup; the full viewing schedule is available via this link, as well.
"With the incredible news of today that North America will host the World Cup in 2026, there is an added level of excitement this year as we all watch knowing that it will be on our home soil soon enough," added Gumpert.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup runs from June 14 through July 15.
