Rennie and Cyclones Drop Pitcher's Duel, 1-0 at Blue Rocks

WILMINGTON, DE - Held to just two hits, the Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, lost a 1-0 pitchers' duel to the Wilmington Blue Rocks Saturday night at Frawley Stadium.

Wilmington starting pitcher Evan Lee, the No. 30 prospect in the Washington Nationals system, struck out eight Cyclones over five scoreless innings. The southpaw faced two over the minimum and finished his outing retiring 12 batters in a row. Brooklyn starter Luc Rennie allowed just one run on three hits over 5 2/3 innings, striking out four in the tough-luck loss.

The Blue Rocks scored the game's lone run against Luc Rennie in the bottom of the sixth when Armond Upshaw was hit by a pitch, stole second, advanced to third base on an error, and scored on Jack Dunn's RBI fielder's choice.

Wilmington's Todd Peterson allowed a two-out hit to Jaylen Palmer in the ninth inning, but Francisco Alvarez grounded out to end the game.

NEWS AND NOTES

Brian Metoyer has not allowed a run over his six relief appearances since coming off of the injured list on June 27.

Luke Ritter returned to Brooklyn's lineup for the first time since going on the injured list on July 8.

Saturday's game lasted two hours and 20 minutes which ties for the fastest game of the season for the Cyclones.
