WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats lost in heartbreaking fashion to the Hudson Valley Renegades on Sunday night 7-6 in extra innings.

The ValleyCats tied a sason-high with 14 hits, capped by Nate Perry's go-ahead two-run blast in the 10th inning. Carlos Machado added a 5-for-5 day at the plate, yet the ValleyCats fell victim to a walk-off home run.

Marvin Malone scored runners off of first and third base with his third home run of the year to take down the ValleyCats in a game that they once led by three runs.

Alex Holderbach used two early run-scoring hits to jump out to a 3-0 lead, before Hudson Valley struck back four in the third inning.

Then down by a run, Drew Ferguson tied the game at 4-4 with an RBI double in the fourth inning.

This score held all the way through regulation, forcing extras.

Luis De Paula was the losing picher on record for Tri-City, despite stranding the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth just to force a 10th inning.

After De Paula started the inning with Jacson McGowan at second base, he walked one batter, before surrendering the walk-off homer to Malone.

The win for Hudson Valley gave the Renegades the win in the season series over Tri-City 5-4.

Now with a record of 37-29, the ValleyCats continue to lead the Lowell Spinners by four games in the Stedler division with nine games left to be played in the regular season.

Tri-City will now return home for its final regular season home stand against the Aberdeen Ironbirds. First pitch in the series opener will take place at 5 p.m. on Sunday evening.

Coverage will begin on the Tri-City ValleyCats Radio Network with Steven Cusumano approximately 15 minutes prior to first pitch.
