Renegades Split Two in Brooklyn

Brooklyn, NY (7/8/2014)- The Hudson Valley Renegades and Brooklyn Cyclones split a double header on Monday night, as Hudson Valley took game one and Brooklyn game two. The first game began in the top of the second inning with two outs and the Renegades at the plate, they led 1-0 in the continuation of a contest that was postponed by rain on June 2 nd . In a game that featured three lead changes, put up eight runs on twelve hits, en route to an 8-4 victory.

Brooklyn led 4-3 heading into the top of the seventh inning, before the Renegades scored five total ruins in the final three innings. Nolan Gannon went seven innings, allowing four runs while striking out ten batters. He improves to 3-1 overall this season after earning the win, with an ERA of 1.96. Brian Miller picked up his first save in his two innings of relief work, retiring all six of the hitters he faced. The Vanderbilt product made his professional debut in the eighth, and later closed things out in the ninth. He struck out two of the six batters he faced.

Hunter Lockwood hit his fifth homerun of the season with a solo shot to left-field in the top of the sixth inning. He leads the team in homers and is now third in the New York-Penn League in that category.

Offensively, the Renegades had three players with multi-hit performances. Bralin Jackson went 2-4 with a walk and an RBI, Wilmer Dominguez finished 3-4 with three singles, and Clayton Henning went 2-4 while driving in one. Hudson Valley won their ninth straight game, and improved to 17-5 overall. Following game one, they were five games ahead of Brooklyn in first place of the McNamara Division.

Game two of the doubleheader was a seven inning contest that began thirty minutes after the conclusion of game one. Hunter Wood got the start for Hudson Valley and tossed five innings of three-run baseball with six strikeouts. Five Renegade players picked up a base-hit in the game, as Casey Gillaspie had the only extra-base knock with a standup double off the wall in left-center. Hunter Lockwood, Bralin Jackson, Chris Talley and Leo Correa were responsible for the other Renegade hits.

Notes: Hudson Valley is the only team this season to win nine consecutive games. Their 17-6 overall record is the best in the league and they were the first time to reach seventeen wins this season.
