TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The second of three meetings and the only visit of the defending Kelly Cup champs to Richmond this season. Grrrowl beat the ‘Gades 3-0 in November. Jayme Platt made 34 saves. Matt Demarski had two points. Richmond is 2-3-2 against the Grrrowl all-time. Richmond was 0-1-1 vs. the Grrrowl last season with both meetings here. Richmond is sixth in the Northeast Division with 41 points, two points behind Reading. The Grrrowl is in a fifth place tie with Columbus in the Southeast with 35 points, 10 points behind Columbia and South Carolina.

LAST ACTION: The ‘Gades lost 4-0 to Atlantic City here last night. The Bullies scored two goals 1:22 apart in the first period and added two more in the third. Richmond out-shot the Bullies 35-32. Matt Yeats made 35 saves for his second shutout in three starts. Carl Corazini scored two goals. The Grrrowl lost 4-3 at Reading last night. The Royals snapped a 2-2 tie with two second period goals while out-shooting Greenville 19-9. Each club scored a shorthanded goal.

‘GADES NOTES: The ‘Gades finish a stretch of three games in three nights, five games in six nights and eight in 10 tonight. Richmond will have played 20 games in 38 days by the end of January. The ‘Gades next Sunday game is the final game of the regular season March 30. Jon Zion was called back to Cincinnati of the AHL Friday. Jayme Filipowicz remains on a call up to St. John of the AHL. Five Renegades have seen action in the AHL this season. Richard Pitirri returned to the lineup last night after missing five games due to injury. Lars Pettersen's second nine game scoring streak of the season ended last night. Peter Hogan has six goals in his last 14 games. His career high for a season is seven (with Florida in ‘00-'01).. Richmond has lost three straight overtimes after winning their first seven. The ‘Gades are tied for the league lead with 10 shorthanded goals. Richmond has allowed 27 goals in their last five losses. 10 of those have come on the power play. The ‘Gades are now third in the league in shots allowed and sixth in penalty killing. Three ‘Gades were selected to play in the ECHL All Star Game January 21 in Estero, FL: Jamie Herrington, Jon Zion, and Dan Lombard. Richmond has been at least a game above .500 since November 10. Richmond was seven games over .500 on December 13. Since then the ‘Gades are 2-9-3. Last night was the fourth time the 'Gades have been shutout this season and the first time at home since February 9, 2002. The ‘Gades are 3-4 vs. the Southeast Division.

GRRROWL NOTES: Greenville is the defending Kelly Cup champion. The Grrrowl has lost three in a row and are just 1-8-1 in their last 10 games. The Grrrowl is playing their third game in three nights. Greenville is on a four game road trip (0-2). The Grrrowl is 24th in the ECHL in goals against average (3.64). Greenville is 4-4 vs. Northeast Division opponents but has lost their last four games vs. the Northeast. The Grrrowl has been outscored 48-33 in the third period.
