Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

Troy, NY - The Hudson Valley Renegades dropped their final meeting with the Tri-City ValleyCats on Thursday evening, falling 6-0 at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. With the loss they fall to 40-20 overall, and share the top record in the New York-Penn League with Tri-City. The Renegades were shutout for just the fourth time this season, and now have 16 games remaining in their regular season schedule. All three of their starting pitchers put together quality outings in the three-game series, maintaining the best pitching staff in the league.

Jose Alonzo made his fourth start in a Renegades' uniform on Thursday, and went five innings with no runs and four strikeouts. Since his first start in the New York-Penn League, the righty has impressed in his last three trips to the hill. In his last three outings he has given up just three runs combined with 14 strikeouts.

Three Hudson Valley relief pitchers came on the throw after Alonzo, as Trevor Dunlap, Mike Franco and Ryan Pennell would pitch next. Tri-City scored their first two runs in the top of the seventh inning and followed with four more in the eighth. Those would be the only runs to score for either team in the contest.

Offensively, Casey Gillaspie delivered the teams only base-hit and finished 1-4 on the night. Braxton Lee and Zach Marberry each walked once in the game, as Marberry was also hit by a pitch.
