Reiter Sensational In 2-1 River Otters Shootout Win Against Muskegon

December 3, 2004 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Missouri River Otters News Release

On the strength of a scintillating performance in net from Kevin Reiter, the Missouri River Otters defeated the defending champion Muskegon Fury 2-1 in a shootout Friday night at the Family Arena.

The Fury scored the first goal of the game in the second period. After a Fury face-off win, defenseman Nolan Brown ripped a slap shot behind Reiter. That was the only puck that would beat the Otters goaltender all night. The River Otters tied the game on a power play midway through the final period. Charlie Blyth jammed home a loose puck behind Fury netminder Brent Belecki, and the game went into the shootout.

Reiter was sensational in the breakaway session, stopping all five Fury shooters, including Robin Bouchard and Brant Blackned. The lone Otters shootout goal came off the stick of Barrie Moore, who rifled a low wrist shot behind Belecki.

It was the fifth win of the year for Reiter, who made 20 saves in the game. Belecki made 23 saves in defeat. The River Otters play Saturday afternoon in Kansas City. The puck drops at 1:00 CST, and all the action can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 and the River Otters B2 Webcast at www.riverottters.com.
