Predators prospect assigned to IceHogs

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs, proud members of the United Hockey League, announced Friday that the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) have assigned defenseman Kevin Klein to the club. IceHogs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Steve Martinson made the announcement on Friday.

Klein was a second round and the 37 overall pick in the 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators. The 20-year old rookie defenseman began the season with the Admirals and has appeared in 14 games with them. Klein had 2g-3a-5pts for the division leading team.

"We look forward to this being the start of a successful working relationship with Milwaukee and the Nashville Predators," said Martinson.

The Kitchener, Ontario native has been assigned to Rockford for the team's three game weekend and will be in uniform Friday night when the Hogs travel to Flint, Michigan to take on the Generals. Klein is under a NHL contract with Nashville.

Last season, Klein skated most of the campaign with the Guelph Storm in the Ontario Hockey League. In 40 games, Klein had 6g-23a-29pts and was the second highest scoring defenseman on the team. It was however, in the playoffs were Klein turned up the offense. During the Storm's championship run, Klein accumulated 10g-11a-21pts in just 20 games. His goal totals were second best on the Storm while his points were tied for third highest.

Klein spent the majority of his junior career with the Toronto St. Michael's Majors (OHL). The first year pro appeared in 244 games in the junior ranks and 25 goals and 95 assists. Last season, Klein was one of the top rated offensive defenseman in juniors.

Tonight the IceHogs also will see the return of veteran defenseman Rod Aldoff and winger Jason Ralph. Aldoff had been on the 21-Day Injured Reserve and was activated on Friday, while Ralph was serving a one-game suspension handed down from the UHL.

Next Home Game: Friday, December 10 vs. Quad City Mallards. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The Mallards and IceHogs match-up once again at the Rockford MetroCentre.
