Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif.- The Ontario Reign (20-14-2-2), proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, came from behind to tie the Colorado Eagles (22-13-0-4) three times, but lost 6-4 before 7,308 at Citizens Business Bank Arena Friday night.

Bill Bagron pulled into a tie for second in the ECHL with his third short-handed goal of the season 3:21 into regulation. Bagron crossed the blue line and ripped a slap shot over the glove of goaltender Kyle Jones. The Eagles responded swiftly, as Chad Costello scored at 3:48 just as the penalty to Jason Fredricks expired and Riley Nelson made it 2-1 at 5:08. Kevin Estrada jammed a rebound under Jones' pads for his seventh goal of the season, a power-play goal, at 18:03 to send the game into the first intermission tied 2-2.

The teams traded goals in the second period as Kevin Ulanski scored at 5:17 to give the Eagles a 3-2 lead only to have Kyle Kraemer answer at 6:27. Geoff Irwin threaded a pass through the Colorado defense to Kraemer who made the most of a wide-open net to tie the game at three.

Aaron Slattengren beat Jean-Francois Berube two minutes into the third period to re-establish the lead for the Eagles, 4-3, before Tristan King tied the game with his 10th goal of the season. King broke hard down the left side and chipped the puck inside the far goal post at 14:41. However, Ulanski and Constello each scored their second goals of the game to put the game away.

Berube (5-8-1) stopped 25 of 30 shots in the loss, while Jones (17-6-3) earned the win with 19 saves. Three stars: 1) COL- Kevin Ulanski 2) COL- Aaron Slattengren 3) ONT- Kevin Estrada.
