ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings and the AHL Manchester Monarchs, defeated the Fresno Falcons Saturday evening, 5-1, in front of 5,609 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Goaltender John Murray blocked 28 of the 29 shots he faced in the match, with Tim Kraus, Jon Francisco, Maxime Boisclair, Dusty Collins and Todd Jackson each tallying a goal.

The Reign (13-9-1-1, 28 points) and the Falcons (17-9-1-0, 35 points) met for the third time this season, with the Reign looking to take a win away from the Pacific Division leaders. Midway through the first period, Reign center Tim Kraus stuffed the puck under the pads of Falcons goaltender Joe Fallon to put the Reign ahead, 1-0. Kraus netted his sixth goal of the season at 8:54 in the first off an assist from left wing Chris Curran who registered his second of the season. Keeping the momentum going, center Jon Francisco struck the net scoring his ninth goal of the season, only seventeen seconds later. Francisco netted a one-timer from the top of the slot, fed by right wing Maxime Boisclair, to put the Reign up by two. Boisclair registered his eleventh assist of the year on the play, sending the teams into the second period with the Reign leading, 2-0.

After a scoreless second period, the Reign extended their lead to three as they found the back of the net during a 5-on-4 power play. Right wing Maxime Boisclair fired the puck past Fallon off assists from defensemen PJ Atherton and Shawn Germain to make the score, 3-0. The Falcons netted their only goal of the night on a power play in the second period. Left wing Jarrett Konkle got the puck past Reign netminder John Murray at 4:12 in the stanza, making the score 3-1, in favor of the Reign.

Ontario kept on the attack, scoring their fourth goal of the night, and their second power play goal of the evening at the 6:12 mark in the third from center Dusty Collins. Collins picked up his sixth goal of the season, putting the puck past Fallon off assists from defensemen David Walker and PJ Atherton. Atherton picked up his second assist of the night on the play, helping the Reign to a 4-1 lead over the Falcons. Less than a minute after Falcons defenseman Brennan Turner received a game misconduct for spearing, center Jon Francisco executed a perfect pass across the crease for a one-time shot by left wing Todd Jackson. Jackson scored his fifth goal of the season and the Reign's third power play goal of the night, surpassing the team's previous high power play goals in a game of two.

Both teams endured a physical, high-energy match, with Fresno picking up 45 minutes of penalties and two game misconducts in the third period alone. The Reign gained two points on Fresno in the Pacific Division standings, claiming the victory over the Falcons with a final score, Reign 5, Falcons 1.
