Dayton, OH - The Charlotte Checkers allowed two goals in 40 seconds during the third period to the Dayton Bombers which led directly a 3-2 defeat to end a six game road swing.

The only goal of the first period came by way of the Checkers power play. As Charlotte worked the man-advantage, Mike Bayrack made a nifty pass to forward Matthew Ford who was stationed at the doorstep of the crease. Ford proceeded to blast the puck past Bombers goalie Paul Drew putting Charlotte up 1-0 at 11:24.

The Bombers tallied the tying goal in the second period during a two-on-one rush. It was Jared Lukin threading a pass to Dan Riedel who flipped the puck past a sprawling Checkers goalie Maxime Daigneault at 9:11. Charlotte retrieved a one-goal advantage of 2-1 when forward Peter Tsimikalis wristed a shot between the legs of Drew at 14:03. The middle frame ended with the Checkers holding a 2-1 advantage.

In the final period, Bombers forward Justin Bowers skated inside the Checkers zone, cut to the middle of the ice a beat Daignuealt on a well placed shot just under the blocker at 7:29. The Bombers struck for the winning goal on the next shift when Ryan Smyth snuck a shot through traffic that went past the catching glove of a helpless Daigneault at 8:09. The game would end with a 3-2 defeat for the Checkers.
