February 5, 2024 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Swift Current Broncos News Release
Swift Current, Sask. - What a week it was for Broncos goaltender Reid Dyck, who has been named the WHL's Goaltender of the Week after a some stellar performances in the Broncos crease.
In three games this past week, Dyck played 142 minutes, going 2-0-1-0 with a 0.85 goals-against average, a .970 save percentage, and two shutouts to help the Broncos earn five of a possible six points this week.
It started on Wednesday, Jan. 31 for the 2004-born netminder who stopped all 28 shots he faced against the Lethbridge Hurricanes for his third career shutout, and first of the season. That was followed up by another clean sheet on Friday, Feb. 2 as Dyck stopped 26 shots in Regina against the Pats to help the Broncos to a 3-0 win.
The back-to-back shutouts were the first time a Bronco netminder has done that since 2014/2015 when Landon Bow had two straight shutouts. He's just the fourth goalie to achieve such a feat by himself since 2000 in the Bronocs organization. Two other duos also earned back to back shutouts for the club.
Dyck then appeared in relief on Saturday as the Broncos fell 5-4 in overtime to the Brandon Wheat Kings. Dyck stopped 10 of 12 that he faced in the third period and overtime.
On the season, the Boston Bruins prospect has tallied an 11-6-2-0 record to go along with a 2.89 goals-against-average, and a .911 save percentage with those two aforementioned shutouts.
The Broncos are back in action on Tuesday, hosting the Red Deer Rebels.
