Oklahoma City Comets News Release
Oklahoma City - A three-run second inning provided all the offense the Oklahoma City RedHawks needed Tuesday in a 4-2 win against the Nashville Sounds in front of a crowd of 3,374 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The win gave the RedHawks (15-10) their fifth-straight victory and a 4-1 lead in the season series against Nashville (7-16). Oklahoma City leads the PCL American Southern Division.
Marc Krauss went 2-for-3, including a solo home run in the second inning, to pace the RedHawks.
Oklahoma City's Jarred Cosart (3-0) pitched 5.1 innings, allowing four hits, one run, walking two and striking out six. Josh Zeid threw the final inning for his second save of the season.
The RedHawks took the lead early. Krauss hit his sixth home run of the season. Che-Hsuan Lin grounded out, scoring Brett Wallace. Jonathan Villar then stole home for a 3-0 Oklahoma City lead - and the 35th stolen base of the season for the RedHawks.
Nashville's Hunter Morris singled on a line drive to right field to score Scooter Gennett and cut the score to 3-1.
Jimmy Paredes hit a double to the wall in center field in the sixth inning. He later scored on a passed ball by the Sounds Anderson De La Rosa for a 4-1 RedHawks edge.
Caleb Gindl homered to center field in the ninth with one out to bring the Sounds within two runs.
Nashville outhit the RedHawks, 7-6, led by two hits from Gindl, as the Sounds lost their fourth game in a row.
Paredes added to his team-leading hit total and now has 34 this season.
The RedHawks' eight-game homestand continues with a 7:05 p.m. game Wednesday against Nashville at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
