Oklahoma City Comets News Release

Today's Game: The RedHawks continue a four-game series against Iowa at 11:05 a.m. looking to rebound from a 7-6 loss Monday. Today marks Oklahoma City's last day game at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark until the regular season finale on Sept. 2.

Last Game: The RedHawks tallied six runs and 14 hits, including seven for extra bases, but it wasn't enough in a 7-6 loss to Iowa at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Iowa took a 3-0 lead in the second inning before Marc Krauss led off the bottom of the inning with a solo home run for Oklahoma City. The RedHawks cut the I-Cubs lead to one before Jonathan Villar's two-run homer in the third inning put Oklahoma City in front, 4-3. Robbie Grossman stole home as part of a double steal for a 5-3 edge before Iowa scored four straight runs. With two outs in the ninth, Krauss pulled the RedHawks within one with an RBI single. On the very next pitch, pinch-runner Che-Hsuan Lin was thrown out trying to steal second base, thus ending the game. Iowa's Brad Nelson hit two home runs and now has four over his last two contests. Five of the I-Cubs' seven runs scored with two outs.

Today's Probable Pitcher: Asher Wojciechowski looks to continue his recent roll...On Thursday in Omaha, Wojciechowski pitched seven shutout innings, but walked away with a no decision after Omaha mounted a late comeback. He scattered four hits with one walk and struck out four. An impressive 62 of his 88 pitches were strikes overall, with 18 of 26 batters receiving a first-pitch strike...Over his past two starts Wojciechowski has allowed one run (solo HR) and seven hits over 13 innings...Today will be Wojciechowski's second start of the season against the I-Cubs. On May 25 in Des Moines, he allowed five runs on seven hits and struck out five in the loss. Four runs and four hits occurred in the second inning...Since getting promoted from Double-A he has made four starts at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, going 2-0 with a 1.25 ERA...Between the two levels he's holding opponents to a .146 average with runners in scoring position.

Something Extra: After collecting five extra-base hits in their previous five games combined, the RedHawks racked up seven extra-base hits last night. Robbie Grossman became the first RedHawk this season to notch three extra-base hits in one game (two doubles, one triple). Although the team is sixth in the PCL in batting average (.275), they rank 14th in extra-base hits (166).

End of Dinger Drought: The RedHawks ended a five-game stretch without a home run thanks to blasts by Marc Krauss and Jonathan Villar. Those were also the first home runs they've hit at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark since May 11 (five games). The team's 42 home runs this season rank 15th in the league.

On the Marc at Home: Marc Krauss collected a season-high three hits last night for his first three-hit game since Aug. 4, 2012 while playing for Corpus Christi against Midland. He also notched two RBI for his team-leading ninth multi-RBI game of 2013. In 27 games in Oklahoma City this season, Krauss is hitting .363 with six home runs and 25 RBI.

Close Calls: After last night's loss, the RedHawks are 7-8 in one-run games this season. Last year, they had the best winning percentage in the PCL in one-run affairs (.609, 28-18).

Unlucky Seven: The RedHawks have allowed seven runs in consecutive games for the first time since their opponents scored at least seven in four-straight games, April 21-25.

Rise and Shine: The RedHawks are 3-0 in games that start in the morning this season. Both of their previous early games at home have resulted in their two walk-off wins of 2013 (May 8 vs. Tacoma; May 14 vs. Salt Lake).
